Commuter Benefits
Use pretax dollars to pay for your parking or public transportation expenses while commuting to work. This program is voluntary and you may participate on a month-to-month basis.
Whether you drive, ride the train, take the bus, or use a vanpool, commuter benefits are designed to make your daily commute more affordable. By using pretax payroll deductions, you can reduce your taxable income and keep more of your earnings—while getting to and from work in a way that suits your lifestyle.
Parking
$340 Monthly Maximum
Fees associated with parking at or near your place of employment, or parking at or near public transportation to get to work (e.g., parking at a bus or subway station).
Transportation or Public Transit
$340 Monthly Maximum
Monthly passes, tokens, fare cards/vouchers (transit and vanpool expenses) for you.
East Bay Shuttle
$340 Monthly Maximum
For transit solutions and parking expenses that meet the IRS criteria, the foundation will cover both programs up to $340 a month.
Caltrain
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability, the foundation offers an annual Caltrain Go Pass, which is separate from GoNavia. The Go Pass provides unlimited travel seven days a week between all Caltrain zones. If your work-related commute requires different modes of transport before and after Caltrain you can use GoNavia for qualified transit expenses for the connecting routes. Please refer to our Caltrain Go Pass Flyer on Box for complete details.
Uber Commute Funds
The foundation offers a set number of taxable Uber rides monthly for transportation between the two nearest Caltrain stations and the foundation’s office.
Telecommute Program
The foundation’s hybrid work model is another additional commuter benefit offered. Please refer to our Hybrid Work Policy on Box for complete details.
